Welcome to the 2008/2009 U16 Divisional Trial at St Albans School’s Woollam Playing Fields.

284 players have been considered over the course of twelve graded matches and 98 were invited to the preliminary trial a fortnight ago. We had a good two days development camp this week; 44 players attended that. The task today is to select a squad of 22 players to represent the division in matches against two of the three other divisions at Broadstreet RFC, Coventry over the period 9^th to 11^th January. That will be preceded by a Development Camp on 3^rd and 4^th January at St Albans.

Our thanks got to St Albans School for again hosting the trial at its wonderful facilities and making us so welcome. Also, to the officials of London Referees Society and to the Divisional Selectors and the England selection team who join us today.

Some players are likely to proceed to an England Development Squad or even an England side. Others may have the opportunity to play in one or more divisional games, currently planned to be against Midlands Division, Leinster and Munster.
